Hayden and I headed home for Christmas a little earlier than Brett this year (Brett had finals). I had been nervously anticipating the plane ride alone with my o so active one year old, but I can gladly say that we made it without any problems and Hayden was a Gem :)
Like always I worked at my old salon which is always so much fun a quite a blessing that I can make money while we're home. As fun as it is though it was busy and crazy! I worked 18 hours in 2 days so needless to say I was dang tired. (Thanks mom and Melissa for watching Hayden). The next day Brett made it to Utah with another semester of Dental School behind him. WOOHOO :)
One thing that we were able to do that was REALLY important to me was to make it to Wyoming to visit my grandmas.

97 this year. She is amazing and wonderful. I'm so
grateful we were able to see her.

3 blocks away from eachother)

I had a few free minutes and went to see this cutie
It was so fun to see them play.
We got to see our great friends Matt and Melanie! Matt and Brett went to the U together and became great friends. Matt is in Dental School at Creighton. They are the greatest friends we could ever ask for and we miss them so much.
We had a whole slew of plans to visit with friends and family but Hayden and I ended up sick...It wasn't fun and made the next week pretty much impossible for getting all of our plans accomplished. All of the rest of our plans to see friends got canceled. It was a major bummer, but because I got sick we needed to spend the rest of our time with family. So for those of you that we didn't get to see we're sorry!
We were so excited to let Hayden out in the snow! We knew he'd love it!
We went to Temple Square and it was beautiful
as ever and FREEZING!

Somehow I didn't take a single picture on Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful time with Brett's family having our traditional fondue dinner and then we always read the bible story about the Birth of Jesus. Christmas morning we opened up a few presents and then went over to Tiffany and Jason's house for their traditional breakfast :) Then we headed off to my parents to spend the rest of Christmas day with them! (again no pictures LAME)
The next day we went to see Grandma Richins! She is 94 years old and so amazing!

Then we went swimming with Brett's family downtown at Ryan's place. Hayden LOVES to swim
Something big took place when we were home for Christmas! My dad celebrated his 70th Birthday! WOW yep you read it right! We had a big surprise party for him and made a book where we each wrote a letter to him about any memories we have of him from our childhood to now! It was really fun to get together with my family! I really miss and love them

I just had to blog about this next part for journaling purposes! It's always stressful to fly with a child. Hayden has always flown really well we are really lucky. We headed off to the airport with plenty of time but there were 2 big accidents on the freeway so time was becoming an issue. We finally got there right as they were boarding the plane. I was really flustered and Hayden was stinky so I ran to the bathroom to change him before we boarded the plane. I got him all undressed and he wasn't poopy just really gassy but I changed him anyway. We got on the plane and all was well. The flight attendent came around asking what we wanted to drink and I got a can of apple juice for hayden to put in his sippy cup. He drank the WHOLE THING IN ONE SHOT (we're talking like 10 oz) which he never does. All I figured was that he must have been really thursty.
About halfway through the flight he started tooting like crazy and it STUNK so bad Brett and I were laughing and so embarrassed. I kept checking his diaper and he wasn't poopy. A bit later Hayden was just sitting on my lap playing with a toy and I felt all wet. I lifted him up to find that I was wet because he had peed through his diaper, I was wet because he had had a HUGE blow out and it was all over me......nice! It was all up his back and all over me and smelling up the whole plane. LUCKILY we had an extra sleeper with us so Brett took him back to the bathroom to change him..
He got back to the bathroom only to find that it didn't have a changing table so he just stood Hayden up on the toilet seat and striped him down. I'll spare you the details but Hayden was COVERED in it....and so was every inch of the bathroom :) Meanwhile I'm sitting in my seat still wondering what I'm going to do because I didn't have a change of clothes so I just got wipes and tried to wipe down my pants..But I still had poo juice all over me. SICK! The plane stunk, I stunk but Hayden was as happy as can be! :) It was definetly a plane ride to remember :)

Awesome poop story! We all have those stories. It's the best part of motherhood!
aw. poopies. I love motherhood! its nice to know I am not the only one that gets pooed on. :) Sorry it was on the plane, but it makes a great story!
Oh no! That is too funny. Sounds like good blackmail material for the future. =)
Great post Car... although I still have yet to see a comment on my post. :) Looks like you guys had a great Christmas. And I just LOVE that story of Hayden's blowout. Makes me laugh every time!
I loved all the pictures you put up. The one at the temple looked cool. It looks like all the tutorials you've been watching about the camera are paying off, you've taken some cute pictures. The poop story... a keeper.
