Sew Much Fun!

As I posted before, I got a beautiful new sewing machine :) With the purchase of the machine I was given 3 free classes to help me learn to use my machine and different techniques to help me better my skills. These classes were a dream. I LOVED it so much and was so sad for them to be over that I hung around for almost an hour after the class was over.....what can I say I'm a total sewing geek! LOL

To paint a picture for you....I walk in the first day of my class, 12 ladies in there and i'm the youngest by AT LEAST 30 years. Seriously :) I sat down pretty nervous. These ladies all knew each other as well as knew the owner of "Sew Much Fun". They were HILARIOUS!!! They were so interested in my life (or at least pretended to be so) wanting to see pictures of Hayden and to know all about my sewing business. It was like hanging out with my mom (NOT NEARLY AS GREAT AS THAT REALLY WOULD HAVE BEEN THOUGH).

I learned so many techniques that will help me create great things. I was just drinking it all in loving every minute of it.

I just have to share this because this was totally comical for me. All of these women are very Devout Catholic, and the topic was brought up a lot. The owner (who was teaching the class) told us so many stories about growing up going to Catholic School. She was really funny. I'm sitting there as they were talking about this and that, using words that I didn't understand in reference to their religion. I had to laugh to myself thinking that this must be what someone feels like in a group of Mormons when we talk about "Relief Society" or "Mutual" or "Stake Conference". It was so funny and I loved hearing them talk about their faith. It was great! As I was leaving my last class they all hugged me goodbye. I know this all sounds lame but for me it was so amazing. One more reason that I am so grateful for this amazing experience living here. I have learned so many great things that I'm not sure I would have ever learned.

Next week I'm being featured on a blog :) I'm doing a giveaway worth $30.00 so get excited! I will also be done redoing my sewing blog next week. It's been quite the process and have a bunch of new products I will be selling.

I so am a geek with you. I just got a fancy schmancy new sewing maching for my graduation present from my dad and husband. Short of my wedding ring, it is the most expensive thing I have. I loved going to the sewing classes. Seriously all the fancy contraptions take the talent out of sewing. But my button holes have never been straighter. I am so excited for you.

I love that you had fun! I so know what you mean with all the religion "lingo". I throw out, "They are in my ward" and people think I mean psych ward or something! It is pretty funny!

It is good to live in an area where we get to watch and learn from other people and their faith. My neighbor is Catholic. The other day we were talking about Dawson passing and she said, "Isn't it great you have your faith to help you raise your children to be great people". I loved that she wasn't worried about doctrinal differences or anything. It was simply a moment that we both knew there was value in believing in the Lord and knowing He is there for us. So nice!

By the way....I would LOVE to do a giveaway for you on YourLifeUncommon anytime! You let me know and I will jump on it! SO FUN!

That's so cute you went to a sewing class! I think it is such a great skill to have. Someday I will invest in a sewing machine. Maybe. When are you coming back to Utah? We need to catch up!

So, we would've been taking these classes at the same time.. but I misunderstood and thought you had the option to choose which night you wanted to go. I was so bummed when I called and found out that was the last of 3 nights. It would've been nice to have seen a familiar face. Now it sucks because I have to wait until June. You're probably pro a your machine now!!
