The Best Valentines Day Ever!

*I can't get my computer to upload my pictures, so they will come later

I lucked out in so many ways.  Brett is definitely the thoughtful, romantic type that loves to try (I say try because I'm horrible at being surprised) to surprise me.  A few weeks ago we talked about what we were going to do.  I told him I'd rather just stay home and not go out on Valentines Day.  The crowds, having Hayden, just didn't sound fun this year.  Well Brett is sneaky.  I mean I knew he'd have something up his sleeve but I really thought we'd stay in, I'd decorate the house, and make a nice dinner for us :) HA!  The night before Brett says
B-sooo what's the plan for tomorrow
M-I'm just going to make dinner :)
B-ummm no.
M-What do you mean
B-You know that Valentines Day is my holiday.  We're going out.

Of course that is all he would tell me and I was going nuts trying to figure it out.  So Valentines Day came.  He went off to school and Hayden and I started our day.  I was SUPER tired because I had been up since (3:30 am, thank you pregnancy) so I wasn't feeling very good.  We made sugar cookies for Brett.  I so wish that I would have taken a picture.  Hayden was in HEAVEN and thought it was the funnest thing EVER!  It was messy but o so fun :)

Lets go back a few days.  I did hair on Saturday for 2 girls going to a formal High School Dance...Lets just say that their mom was so generous with payment that if the money was always that good Brett would be the stay at home mom :)  Brett wanted me to go and buy something for myself with that money...It really helps being pregnant, I seriously want for nothing.  This is why Brett decided to splurge. :)

Brett got home from school and said I needed to be ready around 5.  He told me that he had hired a babysitter (which we've never done, we always trade with friends).  He told me the the dress was "casual fine dining".  To me that means really good food but casual.  Normally I really like to dress up and probably would have done so...but I'm pregnant, feeling big, not feeling all that cute, so getting all dressed up didn't sound that exciting.

Babysitter showed up, Hayden was super excited, we left and headed to dinner.  The restaurant was called Andora.  It was so pretty. (can you tell we don't go out much).  We walked in and IMMEDIATELY felt out of place.  We were much to casual.  Brett was dying and felt really bad.  We got seated and laughed it off.  Brett had done a lot of research and looked over the menu, and although it was pricier than we ever spend it wasn't outrageous.  WELL :) we picked up the menu and realized that they were doing an exclusive Valentines Day Menu...which meant it was $67 PER PERSON.  We wanted to die.  There is no way we could afford that.  Brett was dying and felt so bad.  We didn't know what to do, we knew we had to leave.  He grabbed the waiter and asked if the original menu was available (AWKWARD).  She was SO nice and totally took pitty on us (looking super pathetic at this point).  Long story short they let us use the Valentines menu and order ala cart so we didn't have to do the 5 courses.  After we got over the embarrassment of it all, and trust me we were embarrassed (especially my poor husband) we had the greatest time.  The food was AMAZING and it was so much fun to have conversation without our little man constantly interrupting.

We just kept laughing about it as we ate.  We laughed about how we are so not used to luxury, how we've been poor and in school all 6 years of marriage, and totally should have dressed up for the night!  To top it all off I remembered that I had a card for Brett in my purse.  It was a Christmas Card that I had bought for him our first year that we were married and then had misplaced it.  I found it a few weeks ago and thought I'd save it for Valentines Day.  Yes we are classy.  We couldn't stop laughing.

We laughed all the way out the doors.  Brett told me we were going shopping.  Since everything is a million miles away I just wanted to go to TJ MAXX and of course didn't even look for me.  I went straight for the kids section.  We got a few things for the kidos.  It was the perfect night.  I love Brett for being so thoughtful, for being so sneaky and getting a babysitter, for wanting to take me to a nice dinner and shopping.  For being so sweet and always keeping the spark alive.  I love him more than I can say.

This for sure was the most memorable Valentines Day so far.  It was perfect minus a little humiliation :)  I love you Brett
