Valentines and more!

For Valentines Day this year we decided we would be really low key and just stay home, eat dinner and watch a movie! We've been trying to save our money any way that we can because we want to put a fire pit in our back yard this summer! I should have known that Brett had something up his sleeve, but I honestly couldn't have drempt of what he did for me!! I had a pretty long day, Brett got up and went to work and I did 4 clients hair. Hayden was kinda sick, his nose was running all day and he was pretty fussy. By the time Brett got home I was totally wiped out! He told me I needed to get ready because we were going out! I was like "are you kidding me" I was nicely mad (if that makes sense) because we had decided not to do anything this year. He justified it by telling me that he had picked up an extra shift at the lab this week and that my client had left me a REALLY good tip... I still was nervous. Well Brett had to go to the pharmacy to get a perscription for Hayden for his face....(refur to the picure below)

So sad I know but the details will come in a min..

So I jumped in the shower and then called him to see if it was ok for me to wear jeans. He told me I would be most comfortable in a dress or at least dress pants. I started getting nervous about where we were going...not only are we trying to save money, we are Dental Students after all. So I got all ready and I even got Hayden all dress up in his Sunday best! Brett got home and I was upstairs finishing getting ready! He came up and put his sunday clothes on too and then we walked down stairs together....All of the lights were out (which I thought was weird) but I walked into our dining room and the whole room was lit with candles! I was SHOCKED!! He had gone to the Olive Garden and gotten take out. I loved that we were all dressed up! He is such the romantic and so creative! I took a picture of it but it didn't do it justice so i'm going to leave it to your imagination :) I was so relieved, to be honest, that we wern't going out to sit and wait to eat with Hayden being so fussy, plus he looks like he was attacked by a cat so people have been staring at me wierd. So it was the most perfect Valentines Dinner Ever!

Me and my boys!

My sweet Valentines

My little chunk

After dinner we still thought it would be fun to go out so we went to this little hole in the wall ice cream shop near our house that has great ice cream :) Everyone here raves about it so we finally made it there!

In the ice cream shop

I could not have asked for a more perfect Valentines...too bad the night had to end the way it did. So I mentioned that Hayden is sick.. Well his face has nothing to do with that it just adds to it. When we went to Utah for Christmas Hayden got exzema on his face (so did I; the poor kid got my skin). I've been trying to get it to go away for a few months now. The other morning he woke up just talking and babling away so happy! To my horrifying suprise he was bleeding all over. Blood covered his face, all over his blanket, his outfit and his hand... he had come unswaddled and scratched his face really hard..but he was all smiles! I about died. It is HORRIBLE! I took him to the doctor and they gave me some antibioics to put on his face..It's helping..I'm sure it's really sore though and on top of that he has his first cold. Yep that's right..his first!! It's so sad. So we came home from having Ice Cream and I put him to bed! He usually goes down without any problems but he just screamed and screamed. After an hour of me trying to consol him and get him down it was useless (meanwhile Brett was waiting to watch a movie with me). I would get him to sleep but would lay him in his crib and he would cry so hard! So I gave up and told Brett I was going to bed with Hayden (poor Brett). Hayden slept with me until midnight and then I put him in his crib.. he woke up 5 times between 12 and 6. It was so sad and a rough night for both of us. So our Valentines started out just perfect and although it was interuped by our little man, it still was the best Vanentines Day Ever! Thanks Brett I LOVE YOU!

Here are just a few random pictures of Hayden that I thought were cute :) Hope you all had a great Valentines Day too! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Eyre, Grandma and Grandpa Richins and Aunt Kris and Uncle Jason for the sweet Valentine cards you sent us! We love you!

That is the worst when they are sick! Emmett has eczema, too, and it wasn't bad until we went to Chicago for a week and came BACK to Utah - from humidity to dry and we really struggled with it for months after that. It is under control now but we're going again in Aug. and I'm nervous about the skin thing again!! Our doc gave us a steriod to put on their skin which worked and we can use it just when it gets bad... poor guy!! He is still so adorable, though!! He has such a cute little face! Gosh sorry this is the longest post in the world!

Annie has a sore just like that on her calf and I cannot get it to go away! That is so sad! I hope the meds help! I also hope you both can get some sleep tonight!

Oh his poor little face! They can really scratch hard huh?! Gracie's ear was all bloody one morning from her scratching it so hard. It doesn't matter how short you cut their nails...they still leave marks!

What a cute Valentines day!! How sweet of your hubby.

I warned Bryant that Brett could make him look bad if he doesn't step it up in the romantic department. :) I'm glad those meds are helping with his little face. He's still incredibly cute, no mind the eczema!

awww...that was a cute valentine's day surprise! I hope hayden gets better soon, for his sake and your sake and so we can see you more!

I like how you wrote "poor brett" because you couldn't go watch the movie with him. You're a nice wife! I would have been saying poor me and having a pity party for myself!

How romantic. It gets harder with kids, but sounds like it worked with Hayden. His skin looks like it's so painful but I'm glad it's on the mend. We miss hanging out with people and will be back to "normal" in a few days
